Yuvi's Second Worst Day

Yuvi's innings of 11 in 21 balls was clearly the single biggest reason for India's defeat today. Just because of this India finished at least 30 runs short and once that happened India's hopes were as good as dead.

We were pulling our hair in frustration when Yuvi was committing harakiri. Coming from Yuvraj, who has been the architect of two of India's greatest triumphs in the last 25 years , the 2007 T20 WC win and the 2011 WC win, this was most unexpected.

This must rank as the second-worst day of Yuvi's public life. The first one must be when he came to know that he had cancer. He will like to forget this day in a hurry but will always be reminded for the rest of his life, like Chetan Sharma is for the ball he bowled to Javed Miandad in 1986.

While it was happening I was so angry at Yuvraj, but after the match I was feeling sorry for him. Clearly his reflexes are not what they were before his cancer treatment. He was struggling out there today. In T20 format you can't play out a few balls if you are out of touch like in a 50 over game. He had to go for each ball, and he kept failing to connect. He could have tried to get out hit wicket so that Raina and Dhoni can come in but that would have meant wasting one ball. So he was in a catch 22 out there. He must be gutted by the realization that he let the whole country down.

I have already forgiven Yuvi and everyone else should too. He has always been a team man and never played for himself. This was a horrible day at the office for him which can happen to anyone.

I am sure he will come out stronger from this.
