Clinical Kohli takes India into Finals

Virat Kohli has attained the status at age 25 which at that age only Sachin Tendulkar had. He is the best ODI batsman in the world, getting close to being the best T20 batsman. He has a test batting average of 46 with hundreds in SA, Australia and New Zealand. He is carrying the Indian batting and has played key knocks when it really mattered. Today was one such.

There were fears that his extra aggression will be his undoing when he started his career. Many people thought he was too cocky. But how he has mellowed in a few years to slowly slip into the shoes of Tendulkar.

I feel sorry for South Africa. They can't shrug off the tag of being the eternal bridesmaid. They have been such a good team but don't have a single world tournament to show for. The chokers tag continues to haunt them. In fact today they posted a really good total. I thought it might be challenging for India, but India made it a cakewalk. My only fear now is the dreaded 'Law of Averages'. Having won five in a row will it catchup with them in the Finals. I hope not.

Ammar returned from his school trip today, and the first thing he said was 'I want to go back there, I don't want to go home! '  So clearly he enjoyed it a lot. These experiences are invaluable and one remembers them throughout life. Hope this will be a cherished memory for him.

I had heard Nita Ambani (wife of Mukesh Ambani) say this in an interview that her motto is 'We are in the business of making memories, not making money'. I find this quite a wonderful adage to live by. If only one can create in ones life and the lives of our near and dear ones a series of wonderful memories......that will be a life well lived. Because in the end all that remains is memories.
