Javed Ahmad Ghamidi

Of late I have been seeing some videos of Pakistani Islamic scholar Javed Ahmad Ghamidi. He is now living in exile in Malaysia.

I am extremely impressed by his interpretations and explanation of Quran and also his views on Jihad and the challenges facing the Muslim World.

He has presented a counter narrative to the Taliban narrative in the light of Quran. He faced threats to his life in Pakistan and some of his colleagues were killed. Hence he had to leave Pakistan and is living in exile in Malaysia. His programms on TV continue to be broadcast. He continues to stand firm on his views.

Stunning win for AAP in Delhi

I woke up today to the news of a stunning win for AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) in the Delhi Assembly Elections. They won 67 of the 70 seats. The rest 3 were won by BJP. Congress drew a blank. This is one of the most historic electoral wins in the history of modern India. People are now saying the this may now slow down the Modi led BJP juggernaut. Let see if that happens.

This is an extremely welcome development as BJP had virtually no opposition. The hardline 'Hindutva' forces were having a field day with such rediculous propositions as 'Ghar Wapsi'. Modi had turned a blind eye to them. Now the BJP top leadership will have to re-think this strategy.

Hopefully some of this will get replicated in other states.

Nouman Ali Khan

Of the Islamic Tele-evangelists of the modern ganeration, one of the best is Nouman Ali Khan. He is a Pakistani American who lives in Texas.

Another one is Mufti Menk, who is from Zimbabwe but is of Indian Origin. He is very good too.

There are many others, Yasmin Mogahed, I think is an Egyptian. She has become famous with her book 'Reclaim Your Heart' being very popular.

Another is the Pakistani Junaid Jamshed who was one of the most popular pop singers of Pakistan before giving up music and turned to Islam.
