'Jumle-Baaz' Prime Minister

When Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi made a strong statement against 'fake Go-Rakshaks' yesterday, I was reminded of the Talibans.

The Pakistani Establishment differentiates the Talibans as the 'Good Talibans' (those who attack India and Afghanistan) and the 'Bad Taliban' (those who also carry out attacks in Pakistan itself).

Similarly the BJP will now have to categorize the Go-Rakshaks (cow vigilantes) as the 'Good Go-Rakshaks' (who only target and attack Muslims) and the 'Bad Go-Rakshaks' (who attack Dalits as well).

With his statement (in which he only mentions Dalits and not Muslims), Modi has made it absolutely clear that it was OK as long as the vigilantes beat up and lynched Muslims. But extending this to Dalits is a strict no-no. Not because the BJP/RSS like the Dalits. They have no love lost for them. But Dalit votes are the lifeline for BJP, crucially in the upcoming UP elections. Hence the 'outpouring' of love for Dalits.

Modi awoke to this realization all of a sudden that the cow vigilantes are taking law in their own hands and that they are 'fake Go-Rakshak'. He was totally silent (which can be construed as tacit approval) for the last 1 year as long as they were lynching, killing, beating up Muslims in the name of protecting the cow. They were following the script and all was well. We know very well that for the Sangh Parivar, Muslims are fair game.
Modi in his statement didn't even try to couch the fact that he specifically meant the Dalits and Dalits only. So in a way he is telling the Go-Rakshaks that stop this only for the Dalits. What an inflammatory suggestion by the Prime Minister of a country which constitutes of 13-14% Muslim population.

The media should have gone to town about this 'selective outrage' from the PM. But they are actually applauding him for speaking against the cow vigilantes. They have mostly chosen to ignore the dangerous message he is conveying between the lines.

Ganga Jamuna - Movie

We watched this movie yesterday.
I am reading Dilip Kumar's autography - The Substance and thr Shadow. This book has been lent to me by my Baji Ammi, (my Khala) Mrs Khaleda Hoda. I found this book really interesting  and now want to watch his iconic movies which i haven't seen yet. Next one to watch is Madhumati.

The book - worth reading....
