I was looking at pictures of the function to release the autobiography of Dilip Kumar. They are just fabulous. The other iconic personalities of the Hindi Film Industry are all around him, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra and Aamir Khan. They all seem young compared to Dilip Kumar who is 91 years. Masha Allah, at this age he still looks pretty goods.
A lot of the top names from Bollywood along with prominent people from other walks of life graced the occasion.
Of course Dilip Kumar is the original icon of the Hindi Film Industry who set the framework and benchmark for those to follow.
I was seeing some of his videos on Youtube. It is amazing how good Urdu he speaks. He can speak Hindi and English just as well. Certainly he is a very polished and a well read man apart from being the superstar of the Hindi film industry. He has been awarded the highest honours of India (Bharat Ratna) as well as Pakistan (Hilal-e-Imtiaz).
Also extremely endearing is the relationship he shares with his wife Saira Bano, a top heroine in her own right and 22 years his junior. At this age she can't stop gushing about him. Great to see that. Very heart warming.
Born Yousuf Khan in Peshawar, now Pakistan, he took acting to new levels.
He, along with Lata Mangeshkar are the real treasures of the Hindi Film Industry. Let's savour them while they are still with us.
